When is the fallback answerUrl used?

Question

  • When will the fallback answerUrl be used?

Answer

If an issue is experienced with your answerUrl, the Voice API will attempt to use your fallback answerUrl, if multiple URLs have been provided as an array in your API request.

Timeout
When an NCCO download request fails due to a connection or socket timeout, the request will be retried for a further 2 attempts. After the third failed attempt, the Voice API will attempt to use the NCCO at your fallback answerUrl.

Non-200 response
If Nexmo receives a non-200 response (e.g. 404, 500), the Voice API will attempt to use the NCCO at your fallback answerUrl.

JSON Parsing Error
If we experience an issue parsing the JSON body of your NCCO, such as the JSON being invalid or using the incorrect content type, the Voice API will attempt to use the NCCO at your fallback answerUrl.
