Which payment methods can I use to add funds to my Vonage API account?

You can add funds to your account using one of the following payment methods:

  • Debit Card or Credit Card (Visa or MasterCard only)*
  • PayPal
  • WeChat Pay (selected countries)
  • Bank Transfer

*Pre-paid credit cards are not supported.

Credit Cards

We accept Visa and Mastercard for debit or credit card payments. All payments are processed by Braintree, our Payment Service Provider (PSP). You can manage your card details and make a payment from the Billing & Payments page.

Credit card payments aren't available in all countries. Pre-paid cards are not supported.


If you select PayPal as your payment method, you will be redirected to the PayPal website to authorize your payment. Once your payment is successful, you can view the transaction from the Payment History on the Billing and Payments page in the Dashboard.

Make sure that you use the same address that your PayPal account is registered to for the billing information when making your first payment.

WeChat Pay

If you have a WeChat Pay account, you can use it to top up your Vonage API account balance from Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, and Taiwan. If your Vonage API account is registered in one of these countries, you should be able to select the WeChat Pay option on the new payment page.


The auto-reload feature will automatically top up your account when your balance gets too low. Auto-reload can only be used with PayPal and credit or debit cards.

You can turn on auto-reload after a successful payment, either on the Payment Completed page or on the Billing & Payments page. The payment method must be saved and an initial successful payment is required to enable auto-reload.

Bank Transfers

One of the easiest ways to make payments of any amount is by bank transfer. Bank Transfers require a minimum amount of 200 Euros. Your account is credited and an invoice sent to you once the funds have cleared into the Vonage API account. Bank transfers may take 3 to 5 days to arrive in our bank accounts once it is remitted.

Other Payment Methods

Additional payment methods like American Express (AMEX) are not supported via our direct payment provider, but may be possible via PayPal depending on your country.
