What is auto reload?
The auto reload feature can automatically add funds to your account when your balance gets too low. This means that you shouldn't need to worry about your service being interrupted as, in theory, you should never run out of credit.
We'll automatically check your account balance every six minutes. If we detect that it's fallen below your defined threshold, we'll automatically add more funds to your account. If you are planning on using a lot of credit within a very short timeframe, we recommend that you increase the auto reload threshold and increase the payment amount for each auto reload event.
What payment methods does auto reload support?
Auto reload currently supports:
Note: You'll need to have registered one of the above payment methods on your account before you can use auto reload.
How do I turn on auto reload?
You can turn on auto reload from the Payments & billing page in the Nexmo Dashboard.
If you don't already have access to this feature, you will need to contact Nexmo Support to have it enabled on your account.
Assuming you already have access to auto reload feature:
Log in to the Nexmo Dashboard
Navigate to the Billing & Payments page
Under the section, 'Auto reload', toggle the switch on
Define a threshold value for when you want to automatically trigger a new payment
Define how much you want to reload (€) when your balance goes below the threshold
Choose which payment method you want to pay with
Not sure if you have a saved payment method?
Go to the Billing & Payments page and you will see a section on the left displaying saved payment methods.
If you do not see auto-reload as an option on the Billing & payments page, contact Nexmo Support to add the capability to your account.
Using the Developer API for payments
See the Developer API documentation to understand the implementation. The benefit is that you can manage the auto reload payment when your account reaches any balance threshold you have set, in the API request, in realtime rather than based on the six-minute interval.
Currently auto-reload for the Developer API is only enabled for PayPal payments.
