Can I used Connect with fallback NCCO with Machine Detection?


  • If a call goes to answer machine, can I hangup and fallback to a new NCCO?
  • Can we fallback a Connect call on voicemail?



It is not possible to serve a new NCCO when an endpoint going to voicemail. When Machine Detection detects a voicemail system as answering the call, the call has been answered and so the Connect action will have bridged the 2 calls already. At this point, it will be too late to keep the first call leg waiting and so you will not be able to serve a new NCCO. You can transfer a call to a new NCCO at this point and send a hangup to the call answered by voicemail using an API request: Modify an existing call
